This article is dedicated to all those who will choose to spend their summer holidays away from the sunny beaches and who will instead spend their holidays in the cities of art or in the most important capitals of the world. And you know, museums are the first destination once you arrive in a new city.
So I decided to suggest you 5 museums dedicated to fashion that you must necessarily visit if you are in one of these cities. Please!
1 – Met – New York, USA
If you’re in the Big Apple, there’s no way you can’t miss the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art (Met) on Fifth Avenue. Opened on February 20, 1872, the MET is one of the largest art galleries in the world and the nerve center of New York art. Inside the museum there is the Anna Wintour Costume Center – named after the director of Vogue America – a wing that houses the collection Costume Institutewhere every year the most important and exclusive charity fundraising gala of all is held, the Met Gala.
2 – Museo Cristóbal Balenciaga – Getaria, Spain

The Basque Country is an absolute marvel. In the town of Getaria is the Museo Cristóbal Balenciaga, the birthplace of “Master of all couturiers”and is a public institution dedicated to studying and keeping alive the memory of the Spanish designer who founded Balenciaga.
Inaugurated in 2011, it was the first large museum in the world dedicated exclusively to a single designer in such a way as to underline the impact and relevance that Cristóbal Balenciaga’s work has had and continues to have in the world of fashion, art and of design.
3 – Yves Saint Laurent Museum – Paris, France

5000 square meters, inaugurated in October 2017, in the heart of Paris that host drawings, videos, photos and sketches dedicated to the wonderful work of Yves Saint Laurent, inside the Pierre Bergé Foundation.
Here it will be possible to fully immerse yourself in what was the birth and development of the French maison born in 1061.
4 – Christian Dior Museum – Granville, France

In Normandy, therefore in the north-west of France, there is Granville, a town of just over 13 thousand inhabitants where one of the most important and decisive designers of all time, Christian Dior, grew up.
Villa Les Rhumbs is a pink and gray house built on a cliff, and it is the house where Dior spent his childhood and to which he has always been very attached and has been a great source of inspiration for him. The villa was transformed into the Christian Dior Museum in 1988 and since then has kept stories and objects that have characterized the history of the French maison.
5 – Gucci Garden – Florence, Italy

City of art par excellence, Florence is the city of museums. Among these, however, I point out the Gucci Garden, inaugurated by Alessandro Michele in 2018 inside the Palazzo della Marcanzia of the Tuscan capital. Once there it will be possible to immerse yourself in the history of the maison, buy limited collections in the boutique and taste the extraordinary dishes of Massimo Bottura at the Gucci Osteria.
