BMW presents itself at CES in Las Vegas, an event dedicated to the most technological innovations on the automotive scene, revealing an amazing concept: the Vision Dee. This car has the task of showing the public a new constructive basis, but also what the future digital experience linked to four wheels will be, both inside and outside the passenger compartment.
The vision of tomorrow according to the BMW concept
The BMW i Vision Dee (Digital Emotional Experience) aims to represent tomorrow, which gladly collides with the digitization of cars, wittily showing some technologies that will be part of series-production cars in the near future. Oliver Zipse, CEO of BMW, went so far: “With the BMW i Vision Dee, we show what is possible when hardware and software merge. In this way, we are able to exploit the full potential of digitization to transform the car into an intelligent companion. This is the future for car manufacturers and also for BMW: the fusion of virtual experience with real driving pleasure. At the same time, the BMW i Vision Dee is another step on the way to the NEUE KLASSE. With this vision, we look to the future and underline the enormous importance of digitization for our next product generations”.
More and more digital cars
The next day he will have to deal with the digital experience which will be a priority requirement, as well as a fundamental part of a vehicle. The concept on display at the Nevada review surprises us with a feature that is activated when the driver approaches the door: at that moment a series of animations welcomes the driver with a riot of colorful sequences. In addition to this, it can also project the user’s avatar directly onto the side window for a warm welcome into the car. Another novelty concerns the possibility of using voice commands even outside the car. Finally, the headlights and kidney grille can be used to communicate with external people through specific animations, through increasingly engaging communication.

What the BMW concept looks like
Externally, the concept uses E-Ink technology, already seen on the futuristic BMW iX Flow Featuring E-Ink presented at the last edition of CES. The Bavarian house says that the body is covered with a film equipped with this technology that allows you to change the tone of the car with a simple command, being able to count on a range of 32 different colors. Inside, however, the concept has an advanced Head Up Display which projects images and driving information across the entire windshield. Using the “BMW Mixed Reality Slider”, a touch control, present in the center of the dashboard, you can choose the amount of digital content you want to see right on the Head-Up Display, through 5 different levels. For the rest, the passenger compartment develops following a minimalist trend and is characterized by the massive use of sustainable materials. There is also a steering wheel with large tactile surfaces.
