The BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2023 is starting at Plan de Corones
You experience the magic of snow and admire the champions. Everything is ready for the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 2023 -from 19th to 22nd January- at Kronplatz, where the World Cup competition will start biathlon at the foot of the imposing peaks of Vedrette di Ries. A territory naturally linked to this sport: already in the early 70s, the Valle Anterselva hosted international competitions, and for this edition there will be no less than five local athletes competing.
The numbers are really important: 300 athletes coming from 35 different countries, men and women, engaged in the sprint tests on the first two days, in the pursuit on Saturday 21 January, and in the final adrenaline-pumping relay races on Sunday. The beating heart of the event, where there will be fun, music and good food, as well as the competitions, will be the biathlon and cross-country skiing centre “Südtirol Arena South Tyrol”, a stadium already designated to host the biathlon challenges at the next 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

Female skiers from all over the world will compete on a particularly difficult and insidious track: the track is 1325m longwith a altitude difference of 405 m it’s a maximum slope of 61%. A race that keeps thousands of enthusiasts glued to it every year winter formula 1.

The appointment on the Erta di Kronplatz is actually double: on Wednesday 25 January the Women’s Alpine Skiing World Cup. The giant, expected in the Czech Republic, will be anticipated right in the South Tyrolean location, to the delight of the spectators expected on the slopes with a program full of events.
