Magic The Gathering Kamigawa Neon Dynasty: Here is the new expansion of trading cards

Wizards of the Coast today released Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, the newest set of the world’s most popular trading card game, Magic: The Gathering.

A long-awaited return, since the publication of the first original Kamigawa block, in 2004. Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty transforms settings inspired by feudal Japan by fusing them together with luminous and futuristic landscapes made of phosphorescent neon. The set contains 302 cards and and is available from February 10 on MTG Arena and from February 18 in print format.

In a city of towering skyscrapers and vibrant cherry trees, cybernetic ninja Kaito Shizuki searches for the lost Emperor of Kamigawa. With the return of the Planeswalkers alongside him, Tamiyo and the Wanderer, Kaito must travel through the Underworld to investigate an undisclosed mystery that threatens Kamigawa’s spirit world and the delicate balance that exists between soul and machine.

Set 1,200 years after the events of Kamigawa’s original story, Neon Dynasty blends the old with the new by reworking familiar mechanics and introducing never-before-seen abilities. The new Reconfigure mechanic grants creatures the ability to be used by other creatures as if they were equipment and thus gain new bonuses.

Double-faced cards are also back, an excellent key weapon to turn the tide of battles, as well as Saga-type cards, which transform into enchanted creatures and offer the player unique and additional abilities. We also find the Channel cards, which allow players to discard a card with the possibility of obtaining a temporary effect. Finally, another mechanic that returns is Ninjutsu, which allows Ninja creatures to overcome the defenses of the opponents. Cards with Ninjutsu can be put into play in attack position, returning an unblocked creature of your own to your hand.

Kamigawa’s legendary creatures make a comeback with the highlight of the five legendary Dragon Spirits at the center of this new deck. The Samurai and Ninja creatures also return with cool new iterations for players to collect.

Taking inspiration from traditional Japanese iconography, Neon Dynasty presents 10 basic “Ukiyo-e” lands, each type of basic land has two woodcut versions available in foil and non-foil versions. The new set also gives modernity to the feudal aesthetic with Ninja and Samurai display frames and with elegant and futuristic borders that outline specific types of creatures.

Thanks to the exclusive collaboration with leading Japanese artists such as Hara Tetsuo (Fist of the North Star), Yoji Shinkawa (Metal Gear Solid) and many more, Neon Dynasty presents delightful full-art cards that showcase some of the Legendary creatures and Planeswalkers from the set. with dazzling and enchanting features.

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty will be available in regular Draft booster packs, theme packs, collector boosters, expansion packs, as well as the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty bundle and two Commander decks.
