Fate caught up with us and dystopian futuristic fictions are here. We cannot help but look around us with a bit of irony and reflect from the images and stories that horror and science fiction have given us for many years now.
This year, in addition to looking at classic and cult films that have brought us closer to these issues, the International Horror Film Festival will include in its programming, traditionally focused on horror, science fiction, dark fantasy and thriller, in a new section that will open to our public the range of our favorite genre as well as the recognition of other related genres. This new edition will be dedicated to dystopias: it is the year of Macabre XXI in the XXI century.
The twenty-first edition of Macabre will take place from August 17 to 28, 2022 in hybrid format in virtual and physical locations. It is made up of 109 films on display:
- 54 feature films
- 21 national premieres
- 5 Latin American premieres
- 6 world premieres
- 55 short films
After two years of virtuality, the new edition of Macabre FICH will be held in person at the “Esperanza Iris” City Theater on August 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. After the ceremony, the screenings of #MacabroDystopian will begin with:
The Year of the Plague
