Create public nurseries, where there are not yet. This was one of the objectives of the Pogliese council and which seems to have been achieved thanks to the projects presented, on time and detailed, approved using the funds of the National Research Council, National Recovery and Resilience Plan. I am in fact dand the new structures financed and planned in via Montenero, viale Mario Rapisardi area, and via Carlo and Nello Rosselli, behind the Quintino Maiorana schoolfor an amount equal to 2.1 million euros for each structure, to be built within the timelines set by the national plan, i.e. 2026.
Looking at the plans of the projects presented, it seems that they will not be just two simple nurseries; rather, they will be the example of the “ecological transition” of which so much is talked about, but of which very little in concrete terms – “vox populi” – is understood what it refers to.
The projects for the two new kindergartens to draw on funds from the National Research Council had come under the indications of the municipal councilor for social services, headed first by Giuseppe Lombardo and then by Adriana Patella; the “fresh fresh” news is that the goal has been reached, with “extreme satisfaction”.
“It is – the councilor Patella tries to explain, even with technical details – of a further step towards the goal of innovation and energy efficiency envisaged by the European Union, regardless of the fact that teaching must also go hand in hand with innovation. For example, not only the construction, but also the maintenance of buildings has been envisaged, which aim to achieve almost zero energy consumption, based on bioclimatic and green building ».
What is meant?
“The garden of each nursery will be designed paying particular attention to the selection of tree and shrub species to be planted, to be carried out taking into account the function of absorbing pollutants in the atmosphere, regulating the microclimate and using species that have the following characteristics : reduced water requirement, resistance to plant diseases, absence of harmful effects for human health (allergenic, stinging, thorny, poisonous, etc.). There is also a system for the collection and recovery of rainwater for irrigation purposes, pergola areas and stripping vegetation, for natural climate control ».

Are we talking about “futuristic” nurseries?
“In a certain sense, yes, but they will only have to be precursors. In this case it is a great opportunity, that of the Pnrr funds that we could not miss and in fact we took advantage of the timely presentation of two detailed projects, with the aim of enriching the public educational offer of the city of Catania through two structures that will reflect the more performing criteria in the energy and environmental fields. In particular, it is a question of creating buildings surrounded by greenery, which are accessible and walkable through paths without architectural barriers with easy access and transit for strollers and vehicles used by the disabled. Particular emphasis is placed on the inside and outside of the buildings, so that they intertwine and the user can remain in constant visual contact with their children. The designed buildings will have radiant floors that will ensure the right hot and cold temperatures in the different seasons, there will also be a natural ventilation system to support the mechanized system to guarantee the healthiness of the air ». In short, kindergartens 4.0….
