New Hyundai Kona, unique styling and new powertrains: EV, ICE, HEV and N Line variants

With the brand new KONAHyundai Motor has brought its commitment to sustainable mobility and technology-driven design thinking to expand its offerings”possibly” – innovated and advanced by the award-winning IONIQ range – while also meeting the diverse mobility needs of its customers with a variety of powertrains.

“With a unique character, the all-new KONA confidently expresses its bold and dynamic presence,” said SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Hyundai Design Center. An evolution in every aspect of the car, to embrace an even wider range of diversity, to become a true lifestyle advocate.

KONA conveys more dynamic road presence, accommodates more “living space”

The brand new KONA has evolved into a SUVs, yes larger, but still city-focused, with bolder styling that conveys a more dynamic road presence and driver-focused interior. To offer maximum “living space” to customers, the all-new model has grown to 4,355mm in length, which is 150mm longer than the previous generation, which was based on the “ev” variant. It has also gained 25mm in width and 60mm in wheelbase length over the outgoing model without losing any of its iconic design identity.

Unlike most vehicles available with a variety of powertrains, the KONA started from the variant design”possibly” , which was then adapted to the design for the models ICE, HEV and N Line. This unconventional approach has allowed Hyundai to bring a design thought focused on a new technology, the electric one, from which we started to define and derive all the other variants while maintaining a very personal definition for each one.

The clean and distinctive nose of the all-new KONA features a sharp and flowing front section that is aerodynamically very good, contributing to the model’s smooth and extremely quiet performance. The sheer volume is highlighted by the elongated Seamless Horizon lamp, which is pixelated on the “ev” variant, marking the first Hyundai model with a pixelated Seamless Horizon lamp adding to the distinctive character of the model.

Despite its futuristic appearance, the new KONA never lets you forget that it is an SUV. Its dynamic styling is accentuated by boldly sculpted wheel arch trim that incorporates the headlights and taillights, reinforcing KONA’s solid foundation.

The brand new KONA is rich in surfaces with different curvilinear trends, the so-called “parametric”. The sharp diagonal crease in the side panels connects the satin chrome molding from the waistline to the spoiler, creating a contour that wraps around the entire vehicle. The back features another light Seamless Horizon and a high-mounted brake light (HMSL) seamlessly integrated into the spoiler’s satin chrome molding.

There are several variants of style, graphics and finishes, which also combine with the different engines. Sometimes it’s pixel graphic details on the front grille, as on the rear bumper, a design that features 19-inch alloy wheels also inspired by the pixels. Then there’s a black wraparound line and optional black side mirrors and roof. The models “ICE” and “HEV” they share a bold and rugged bumper and front skid plate design and black wheel arch trim.

Model “N Line” features optional black side mirrors and roof, wing spoiler, more aggressive front and rear styling with wing-shaped bumpers to emphasize a lower stance, distinctive 19-inch alloy wheels, twin mufflers and silver side skirt.

Usability that supports lifestyle with driver-oriented layout and practical features

The new KONA’s expanded interior “living space” offers practical features and an evolved in-car experience to accommodate different lifestyles. Universal EV-derived architecture accommodates a sporty layout with floating horizontal C-Pad to emphasize KONA’s slim yet expansive interior, providing a versatile space for driver and passengers.

The dual 12.3-inch wide displays and the mobile module give a high-tech impression. Ambient lighting enhances user experience and convenience. With the shift-by-wire column type repositioned from the center console to behind the steering wheel, it offers an uncluttered layout and additional space for personal belongings in the center console.

The curve-free bench seat in the second row reinforces the urban design aesthetic of the 21st century. This habitability offers a unique experience with maximum usability, comfort and practicality. Behind the second row is maximized cargo space.

KONA’s new interpretation of onboard living offers a driver-focused interior with a versatile living space that satisfies both practical and aesthetic needs.
