Last July, His Highness launched Dubai’s metaverse strategy, which aims to make the emirate one of the top ten metaverse economies in the world and a global center for the metaverse community. The strategy aims to build on the success of Dubai, which attracted more than 1,000 blockchain and metaverse companies. Now things are happening and with the metaverse strategy, Dubai will support over 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030; here are the details.
An invested and well-constituted committee
The new phase of Dubai’s Metaverse strategy was approved at the first meeting of the Higher Committee for Development of Future Technologies and Digital Economy.
The meeting was attended by committee members including His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, President of the Chamber of Economy Dubai Digital and Vice-Chair of the Committee; His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General of Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Chief Executive of Dubai Digital Authority; His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation; His Excellency Ahmed bin Byat, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy; His Excellency Malek Al Malek, Managing Director of Dubai Development Authority and CEO of TECOM Group; Arif Amiri, CEO of Dubai International Financial Centre; and Maha Al Mezaina, General Rapporteur of the Committee.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said that thanks to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate is on its way to becoming one of the world’s leading digital economies and a leading platform for innovations that can shape the future, shortly after theIran.
A new model for technology development
His Highness also said that the committee aims to seek the development of a new model for the development of futuristic technology and science with a focus on digital technologies and the metaverse as part of a broader strategy to promote digital growth and innovation and achieve the goals of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy.
Moreover, His Highness has approved four key strategies to use metaverse technologies to deliver government services and a comprehensive study to identify the social benefits of introducing metaverse services to be submitted to the Executive Council for approval. The initiatives also aim to build the skills of talented Emiratis and create a large metaverse community in Dubai, including businesses, startups, investors and metaverse users.
Initiatives also include strategic projects featuring partnerships with private sector players and events aimed at making Dubai a hub for regional and global metaverse-related events.
All of this could further boost Dubai’s economy and support the government’s vision of United Arab Emirates to increase the number of blockchain companies by five times the current number. The committee also discussed implementation plans for Dubai’s Metaverse strategy and the 100-day plan aimed at coordinating the work of government entities and facilitating their contributions to the development of the digital economy.
